The History of REBAP Laoag City Chapter

In 1995, the first Comprehensive Real Estate Seminar and Review (CRESAR) was conducted in Ilocos Norte through the efforts of CRB Manrico O. Alhama and officers of REBAP National. They initiated the said seminar with the purpose of establishing a group instituting a class of real estate professionals in the province.
On the month of November during that year, about sixty participants took the Real Estate Board Examination handled by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). Among the examinees, only eight passed. The successful examinees then formed the Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines, Inc., Laoag City Chapter. They became the first set of officers with CRB Manrico O. Alhama as the President, Alwin Bartolome as the Vice President, Necitas Dolores Cudal as the Secretary/ Treasurer, Felipe Ventura as the Press Relation Officer, and Jose Basilio, Jr., Prospero Luis, Samuel Malabed, and Zaldy Santiago as the directors and Atty. Eduardo Alcantara as Legal Officer.
The following year, another CRESAR was held and so another set of participants took the exam in which seven successfully passed the examination. In 1997, another CRESAR was held again with the desire of the officers to increase the number of brokers in Ilocos Province. After the third set of successful examinees, the members chose a new set of officers wherein Engr. Joseph Aquino was elected as the new president.
On the succeeding several years, while there were not much projects in Ilocos Norte where the brokers had no opportunity to render their services in the community, REBAP-Laoag City- Chapter became inactive.
In 2009, REBAP Laoag Chapter took its revival with the support of the National President CRB Emily Duterte.
Through the initiative of its officers, REBAP Laoag Chapter conducted the first ever “Continuing Professional Education” seminar which was duly accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission on July 24 and 25, 2010. The following officers then were Chapter President Leonardo Llanes, Vice President Engr. George Joseph Aquino, Secretary Mary Nyre Alcantara, Treasurer Necitas Dolores  Doña, Auditor Rayna R. Rocimo, Press Relation Officer Felipe Ventura and Legal Officer Atty. Noel Concepcion.  The two-day seminar was held at Mira de Polaris Hotel in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte and was attended by the REBAP members who are all duly Licensed Real Estate Practitioners, some of whom came all the way from Vigan City and Abra, and some professionals from the banking sector. It was also attended by Municipal Assessors from the towns of Bacarra, Banna, Marcos and Nueva Era.
